New York Avenue is formed by the merger of East Shore Road and Youngs Hill Road in Huntington. It runs south as a two-lane undivided road.

There is a pair of roundabouts at Mill Dam Road and Park Avenue, which were part of CR 35 until 2022. The northern portion of the county route has been decommissioned, and they are now unnumbered town road. There is also access to Grist Mill Lane and Creek Road.

New York Avenue passes under the Huntington Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. Then, there is a traffic light at Depot Road. The left lane becomes a left turn lane.

Use the left lane here to stay on New York Avenue, which becomes an unnumbered town road south of this point. NY 110 splits off to the right as Walt Whitman Road.

Just south of the split, Walt Whitman Road becomes a divided road. There is a traffic light at Jericho Turnpike (NY 25). Turn left to go east or right to go west.

There is a traffic light at Old Country Road. Turn left to go east or right to go west. Walt Whitman Road splits off to the right to become a local street. Continue straight ahead onto Broad Hollow Road to stay on NY 110.

Broad Hollow Road runs south as a six-lane divided highway. There is an uncontrolled intersection at Arlington Street.

Broad Hollow Road continues south from Melville to Farmingdale. There are traffic lights at Duryea Road, Walt Whitman Road, Milbar Boulevard, and Melville Road. Ruland Road (CR 5) also begins on the left at one of the traffic lights, but there is no county route signage for it.

Broad Hollow Road passes under the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road. Immediately thereafter, there is a traffic light at Conklin Street (NY 24).
