Baltimore Beltway
Outer Loop Views
The Francis Scott Key Bridge carries the Baltimore Beltway across the Patapsco River to Baltimore County. This bridge is no longer standing. It collapsed after being struck by a ship that had lost power early in the morning on March 26, 2024.

Southbound I-83 is multiplexed with westbound I-695 for one exit. The two routes then split. Exit 23A is for the Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) south. Exit 23B is for Falls Road (MD 25).

There is some advance signage for exit 1, followed by a drawbridge over Curtis Creek to Baltimore City. The mileposts reset back to 51.2 in the middle of the bridge and count down.

Exit 1 is for Hawkins Point Road (MD 173), Pennington Avenue, and Fort Smallwood Road. This marks the completion of a loop around the Baltimore Beltway. The Francis Scott Key Bridge is straight ahead.
