Charles Street is a north/south route in Baltimore. It takes on the designation of MD 139 at its intersection with North Avenue (US 1/Truck US 40). At first, it is a northbound one-way street, so southbound traffic follows St. Paul Street, which is located two blocks to the east. The two streets come together near the campus of Johns Hopkins University. Charles Street continues north out of the city. MD 139 ends at an interchange with the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) in Towson.
