Van Wyck Expressway, Whitestone Expressway, Whitestone Bridge
Northbound Views
The Van Wyck Expressway begins at JFK Airport. The roadway from Terminal 4 becomes the expressway, which heads west for a short distance before curving to the north.

Within the airport, the exits are assigned letters instead of numbers. Exit A is for the airport terminals, the Port Authority Police, and the tow pound.

There is a New York welcome sign for visitors arriving by air, followed by signs giving directions to various destinations within the regions, such as Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, New Jersey, the Bronx, and Connecticut.

Exit C is for long term parking, rental car returns, the cell phone lot, and all cargo areas.

Exit 1A is for the Nassau Expressway (NY 878) east and the Belt Parkway east. It also provides access to North Conduit Avenue (NY 27) east.

Exit 1B is for the Belt Parkway west. It also provides access to North Conduit Avenue (NY 27) west. Exit 2 is for Rockaway Boulevard.

The AirTrain runs over the center of the expressway for a few miles beginning here. Construction work is currently in progress to add an HOV lane to this section.

The AirTrain splits off to the east toward the Jamaica train station. Exit 6 is for Jamaica Avenue and Hillside Avenue.

Exits 12A-B are for the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and College Point Boulevard.

Exit 13 is for Northern Boulevard (NY 25A) and Astoria Boulevard. There is also access to the Grand Central Parkway, although there is no signage to indicate so. The Van Wyck Expressway ends here. I-678 continues straight ahead as the Whitestone Expressway.

Exit 16 is for the Cross Island Parkway, which begins here at the Whitestone Expressway just south of the Whitestone Bridge.

I-678 ends here at a very large interchange called the Bruckner Interchange. Exit 19N is for the Bruckner Expressway (I-95) north. Exit 19S is for the Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95) south. Exit 19W is for the Bruckner Expressway (I-278) west. All trucks must use one of these three exits. Continue straight ahead for the Hutchinson Parkway, which is not open to trucks. In addition to I-678, I-95, I-278, and the Hutchinson Parkway, a fifth highway, I-295, is part of this interchange, but it is not possible to access it from I-678.
