The Cross Island Parkway is a north/south parkway in eastern Queens. It begins at the Belt Parkway and the Southern Parkway at the Queens-Nassau county line and runs north along the border. In the vicinity of Jericho Turnpike (NY 25), it crosses into Nassau for a short distance and then goes back into Queens. North of Northern Boulevard (NY 25A), it runs along Little Neck Bay and then curves to the west. It ends at I-678 just south of the Whitestone Bridge. The Cross Island Parkway provides a route for traffic coming from the Bronx via the Throgs Neck Bridge (I-295) and the Whitestone Bridge (I-678) as well as from Brooklyn and Kennedy Airport via the Belt Parkway to access the major east/west routes on Long Island: the Northern Parkway, the Southern Parkway, and the Long Island Expressway (I-495). It also provides access to Belmont Racetrack. The exit numbering scheme on the Cross Island Parkway is a continuation of the exit numbering scheme on the Belt Parkway.
