The Verrazano Bridge is a suspension bridge across the Narrows to Staten Island. There is a reversible High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in the center of the bridge.

There is a toll for the Verrazano Bridge when travelling west. All vehicles pass under a cashless tolling gantry.

I-278 on Staten Island is called the Staten Island Expressway. There are HOV lanes on both sides of the expressway beginning here. The first two exits are located immediately after the tollbooths. Exit 15S is for Lily Pond Avenue south and Father Capodanno Boulevard. Exit 15W is for Narrows Road west and Fingerboard Road.

The Staten Island Expressway ends here. Straight ahead, the Goethals Bridge crosses the Narrows to New Jersey. There is an inspection station on the right just before the bridge. There is no toll when travelling in this direction.
