New Hyde Park Road begins at the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and runs south as a four-lane undivided road. There is an interchange with the Northern Parkway.

New Hyde Park Road continues south through Garden City. After a short distance, it narrows down to two lanes.

New Hyde Park Road merges with Court House Road to become a four-lane undivided road again. It then immediately ends at a traffic light at Hempstead Turnpike (NY 24). Turn left to go east or right to go west. Franklin Avenue, an unnumbered county road, it straight ahead.
