Welcome to Nassau County! Northern Boulevard is the main artery in northern Nassau and Queens, extending from here all the way to the Queensboro Bridge (NY 25). The section between NY 108 and just west of NY 106 was originally called North Hempstead Turnpike, but the Northern Boulevard name was extended east to NY 108 during the first decade of the twenty-first century. Here, Northern Boulevard is a three-lane undivided road with one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes.

A bridge called the Roslyn Viaduct carries Northern Boulevard across Hempstead Harbor, Bryant Avenue, and West Shore Road (CR 15). Just before the viaduct, there is an exit for Bryant Avenue and Old Northern Boulevard. In this direction, there is no signage at all to indicate what the exit is for, making it easy for motorists who don't know the area to get lost here.
