Welcome to Westchester County! The Major Deegan Expressway ends at the Bronx-Westchester county line. I-87 becomes the New York Thruway at this point. An overhead sign welcomes motorists to the Thruway. The exit numbers begin again at exit 1.

Exit 5 is for Central Park Avenue (NY 100).

There is a cashless tolling gantry after exit 6A. The Ardsley Service Area is just past the toll.

Exit 7 is for Saw Mill River Road (NY 9A).

Exit 7A is for the Saw Mill Parkway and the Taconic Parkway.

Exit 8 is for the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) east. It also provides access to NY 119 and the Saw Mill Parkway north. I-287 west is multiplexed with I-87 north along the Thruway straight ahead.

Exit 9 is for Broadway (US 9). It is the last exit before the Tappan Zee Bridge. All vehicles carrying certain types of explosives must exit here because they are not allowed on the bridge.

The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge carrying the Thruway across the Hudson River to Rockland County.
