The Westerly Bypass begins at US 1 and runs north. It narrows down to a single lane in each direction.

The Westerly Bypass continues a short distance further to a small bridge over the Pawcatuck River to Connecticut. On the other side, it continues for a short distance as CT 78 before ending at a traffic light at Liberty Street (CT 2).
