NY 32 begins in Harriman at the point where NY 17 turns from Averell Avenue onto the Quickway. At first, it is a four-lane divided highway. There are entrances to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets on the right.

Skipping north to Cornwall, a bridge carries NY 32 across Moodna Creek. Turn left immediately after the bridge for Orrs Mills Road (CR 20).

Skipping north to Newburgh, NY 32 splits off from US 9W. Here, it is called North Plank Road. There is an entrance to I-84/NY 52 west on the left.
