NY 300 begins at a five-way intersection with Windsor Highway (NY 32) and Blooming Grove Turnpike (NY 94) in Vails Gate. The first section, a two-lane undivided road, is known as Temple Hill Road and extends north for a couple of miles to Little Britain Road (NY 207). NY 300 north is multiplexed with NY 207 west for a short distance and then splits off to the north as Union Avenue, a four-lane undivided road. After about a mile, there are interchanges with the New York Thruway (I-87) and I-84. North of the highway, NY 300 narrows down to two lanes. After another couple of miles, it touches NY 32 again and turns to the northwest as North Plank Road. It extends about six miles to Wallkill, where it ends at NY 208.
