The Anacostia Freeway changes designation from I-295 to DC 295 at its interchange with the Southeast Freeway (I-695). Exits 1A-B are for Pennsylvania. These are the only numbered exits on DC 295.

The Anacostia Freeway becomes Kenilworth Avenue (MD 201) at the overpass for Eastern Avenue as it leaves the District of Columbia and enters Maryland. There is advance signage for the split for the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD 295), which begins just ahead.
