Welcome to Maryland! The Anacostia Freeway (DC 295) becomes Kenilworth Avenue upon entering the state. There is no signage marking the state line. Immediately, the roadway splits. Bear left for the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD 295) north, which begins here. The route number is not posted, as this section of the parkway is under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. Bear right to stay on Kenilworth Avenue. There is a pair of exits on the right for the John Hanson Highway (US 50), which becomes New York Avenue just west of here as it enters the District of Columbia.
