I-395 begins at I-95 in East Lyme and runs north. Exit 2 is for Hartford Turnpike (CT 85).

There is an unnumbered exit for a state police station. Exit 9 is for CT 2A east. Westbound CT 2A is multiplexed with I-395 straight ahead, although there is no signage to indicate so.
