Wampanoag Trail runs south as a four-lane divided highway. The exits are only on one side of the other. Turnarounds provide access to the exits on the other side. There is an exit for Primrose Hill Road.

In Bristol, Hope Street follows the route of the original Independence Day Parade in 1777. In this area, the center line is painted red, white, and blue, making this the country's most patriotic street. Special 2-way traffic signs advise motorists on how to drive with this unique pavement marking.

The parade route ends, and Hope Street reverts to an ordinary double yellow line. It eventually changes names to become Ferry Road.

Metacom Avenue (RI 136) merges in from the left to form a four-lane divided road near the campus of Roger Williams University. It quickly narrows down to two-lanes again.
