US 209 splits off from I-80. The ramp merges with a ramp from the westbound side to form a four-lane divided highway.

US 209 continues north as a two-lane undivided road. There was traffic lights at Oak Grove Drive, Mount Nebo Road, Sellersville Drive, Municipal Drive, Winona Falls Road, River Road, and Fernwood Lane.

Entering the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, there is a booth where trucks having business in the park must stop. All other trucks are prohibited. Within the park, US 209 is maintained by the National Park Service.

US 209 runs north through the park. There are small bridges at Sand Hill Creek and Bush Kill Creek.

Skipping north to Dingmans Ferry, US 209 runs northeast through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Zimmermann Farm Road and Zimmermann Road are to the left. There are also a number of trail parking areas along this stretch.

US 206 begins on the right here. The overhead signage indicates that US 206 is multiplexed with US 209 straight ahead, although in reality this is the northern terminus.
