Yaphank Avenue begins at Montauk Highway (CR 80) in Brookhaven and runs north as a two-lane undivided road. After a short distance, it is interrupted by Sunrise Highway (NY 27). Yaphank Avenue continues on the other side of the highway, but there is no overpass, so all vehicles must turn around. Motorists to reach the portion of Yaphank Avenue to the north should use Horseblock Road (CR 16).
