Dixon Avenue begins at Broadway (NY 110) and runs east through Amityville as a two-lane undivided road.

There is a traffic light at Great Neck Road (CR 47). Turn left to go north or right to go south.

Dixon Avenue curves to the northeast and changes names to become Straight Path.

There is a traffic light at Sunrise Highway (NY 27). Turn right to go east or left to go west.

Straight Path narrows down to two lanes.

Straight Path widens to become a four-lane divided road with a grass median. There is a traffic light at Wellwood Avenue (CR 3). Turn left to go north or right to go south.

The median ends, and Straight Path continues northeast as a four-lane undivided road. There is a railroad crossing at the Central Branch of the Long Island Rail Road.

There is a traffic light at NY 109. Turn right to go east or left to go west.

Heading out of town, Straight Path is a two-lane undivided road once again. It continues northeast to Dix Hills.

Straight Path ends at a traffic light at Deer Park Road (NY 231). Turn left to go north or right to go south.
