Hempstead Turnpike passes through the campus of Hofstra University. There are three pedestrian overpasses connecting the northern and southern halves of the campus. There is a traffic light at California Avenue and Hofstra Boulevard. Hempstead Turnpike narrows down to four lanes as it passes through the campus.
