There is a grade-separated interchange with NJ 18. There is signage directing motorists following CR 527 to take a shortcut via NJ 18 for one exit. Old Bridge-Matawan Road (CR 516) begins straight ahead. CR 527 is multiplexed with CR 516 for a few blocks to Old Matawan Road.

At the end of NJ 172, CR 527 continues north along George Street. There are traffic lights at Remsen Avenue, Morris Street, New Street, Liberty Street, Bayard Street.
