The roadway splits at I-70/US 40. Bear right to go east. Bear left to go west and to stay on US 522.

US 522 merges into I-70, and the two routes are multiplexed for the short distance from here to the state line. It merges in as a new lane on the left that is exit only for the National Freeway (I-68), which begins here. Signage before the merge advises motorists to move to the right to stay on I-70/US 522.
