CT 2A begins at exits 13A-B of the Connecticut Turnpike (I-395). It is multiplexed with I-395 for a few miles to the south and then splits off at exit 9.
The first unmultiplexed section of CT 2A is a short expressway. This is one of the few roads in Connecticut with exit numbers on a milepost system. The mileposts begin back up at the beginning of the multiplex with I-395, which is slightly confusing. Exit 5 is for Norwich-New London Turnpike (CT 32).
