Short Avenue begins at an interchange with Quickway (NY 17/Future I-86).

After one block, there is a stop sign at Main Street.

After another block, Short Avenue ends at another stop sign. Parksville Road (CR 176) begins on the right. CR 85 continues straight ahead as Cooley Road.

Cooley Road runs northwest as a two-lane undivided road. After about three miles, it changes designation to become CR 84.
