Bear Mountain Bridge Road is informally known to locals at the "goat path" because it runs along the edge of a cliff by the river. The terrain along this stretch is very rocky. There are a couple of sign goofs where US 202 is erroneously marked as NY 202. There is a scenic area on the right.

In Peekskill, US 6/US 202 splits off from US 9 and runs east as a two-lane undivided road known as Main Street. NY 35 begins at US 9 and is multiplexed with US 6 and US 202.
