Washington Avenue runs north through Carlstadt. There is a traffic light at Veterans Boulevard. This intersection has a jughandle, so it is necessary to bear right for Veterans Boulevard, which begins on the left.

In Montvale, Kinderkamack Road becomes a northbound one-way street for a short distance. Southbound traffic is routed along Park Street and Railroad Avenue. In this area, there is a traffic light at East Grand Avenue (CR 2) and a railroad crossing.
