Old Boston Post Road begins at Boston Post Road (US 1) in Old Saybrook. After one block, turn right onto Great Hammock Road to stay on CT 154. Old Boston Post Road continues straight ahead as a local street.

Great Hammock Road runs south as a two-lane undivided road. It crosses a small bridge and changes names to become Plum Beach Road.

Indianola Drive merges into Summerfield Road, which after a few blocks ends at a stop sign at Maple Avenue. Turn right to stay on CT 154.

On the other side of the causeway, CT 154 is called Bridge Street. There is a stop sign at College Street. Turn left to stay on CT 154.

College Street runs west, changes names to become Main Street, and then curves to the north.

There is a traffic light at Boston Post Road (US 1). Turn right to go north and to stay on CT 154. Turn left to go south.

CT 154 is multiplexed with US 1 along Boston Post Road for about half a mile.
CT 154 splits off of US 1. Beginning here, it is called Middlesex Turnpike. There is an entrance to the Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) south.
