The Mon-Fayette Expressway is a north/south toll highway extending from Morgantown to the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Its name derives from the fact that it passes through the Monongahela River Valley and Fayette County. The expressway begins at I-68 in Morgantown, West Virginia, just south of the state line. It enters Pennsylvania after one exit and comes under the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. In Uniontown, it is multiplexed with US 119 and US 40 for a few miles. This section is maintained by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and has no tolls or exit numbers. Heading out of Uniontown, it splits off and continues north toward Pittsburgh. Tolls and exit numbers resume at this point.

The current northern terminus of the Mon-Fayette Expressway is at Clairton Boulevard (PA 51) in Jefferson Hills. Construction work is currently in progress to extend the expressway north to PA 837 in Duquesne. A future project will extend it across the Monongahela River to its permanent northern terminus at I-376.
