Westchester Avenue is an east/west route from White Plains to Port Chester. It was originally part of NY 119, but that designation was decommissioned with the construction of the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287), leaving Westchester Avenue with no less than five numerical designations. It is designated CR 71 for a few blocks in White Plains before changing designation to become CR 62 and becoming the service roads for the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287). The CR 62 designations extends for a few miles to Purchase Street (NY 120) in Harrison. There, NY 120 takes over Westchester Avenue for a short distance until the beginning of NY 120A.
