Burns Road begins at St. Mary's Road on Shelter Island and runs east as a two-lane undivided road.

CR 117 ends at a stop sign at Cartwright Road (CR 69). Turn left to go north or right to go south. Burns Road continues straight ahead as a local street. There is no route signage at this intersection.
