At the beginning of the Storm King Highway, there is a gate that can be closed if the road ahead ceases to be passable due to inclement weather.

The Storm King Highway runs along the cliffs between Storm King Mountain and the Hudson River.

The Storm King Highway ends here. There is an interchange with US 9W. Bear left to go north. Bear right to go south and for NY 293, which begins here and runs southwest to the Long Mountain Parkway (US 6). NY 218 is multiplexed with US 9W south beginning here for one exit.

After one exit, NY 218 splits off from US 9W. The ramp ends at Mountain Avenue. Turn right to continue south or left to head back north.
