Salem Road begins at NY 137 at the point where it turns west onto Stone Hill Road in Pound Ridge. It runs north as a two-lane undivided road.

Salem Road ends at a stop sign at Spring Street. Contrary to what one might infer from the signage, this is not Old Post Road (NY 35). Turn left to stay on NY 124. The section of Spring Street to the right is a reference route that provides to a shortcut to go east on Old Post Road (NY 35).

Spring Street runs west for a short distance and then curves to the north to end at a stop sign at Old Post Road (NY 35).
