CR 8 is an east/west route extending from Tappan to Sparkill. Old Tappan Road changes designation from Bergen CR 114 to Rockland CR 8 upon crossing the state line from New Jersey. After a short distance, Western Highway (CR 15) ends at Old Tappan Road. CR 15 is multiplexed with CR 8 along Old Tappan Road for a short distance and splits off to the south onto Main Street. At this point, Old Tappan Road changes names to become Washington Street. It runs east and curves toward the north, crossing NY 303 and the Palisades Parkway but not having any interchange with either one of them. In Sparkill, Washington Street changes names to become Main Street at its intersection with William Street, and CR 8 ends. Main Street and William Street were historically Truck NY 340, but this designation was removed in 2022.
