The Bear Mountain Parkway begins at US 6/US 9/US 202 in Peekskill and runs east as a two-lane undivided road.

The parkway becomes a divided highway. There is a traffic light at Frost Lane and Carhart Avenue.

The divider ends. After a short distance, the western section of the parkway ends at Crompond Road (US 202/NY 35).

After about a mile, the parkway begins again. There is a traffic light at Stony Street.

There is a sign erroneously saying that the left lane ends, even thought there is only one lane here and it doesn't end. The Bear Mountain Parkway ends, turning into a ramp onto the Taconic Parkway south.
