Southbound Views
4 Avenue runs south through Brooklyn as a four-lane divided road. There are oversized street name signs at Pacific Street, Dean Street, Bergen Street, Saint Marks Place, Warren Street, Baltic Street, Butler Street, Douglass Street, Degraw Street, Sackett Street, Union Street, President Street, Carroll Street, and Garfield Place.

Beginning here, the cross streets here are numbered starting with 1 Street and increasing as one travels south. There are oversized street name signs at most intersections. Just past 9 Street, elevated subway tracks cross 4 Avenue.

Skipping south to Bay Ridge, 4 Avenue runs south as a four-lane undivided road. There are traffic lights with oversized street name signs at 96 Street, 97 Street, Marine Avenue, 99 Street, and 100 Street.

Shore Road begins on the right at a traffic light with an oversized street name sign. Just ahead, 4 Avenue ends at the Belt Parkway. Bear right to go west or continue straight ahead to go east. The parkway ends just a couple of miles west of here at the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278).
