Bean River Road begins at Smithfield Valley Road (CR 83) and runs north as a two-lane undivided road. There is an erroneous sign for US 199. It should be for NY 199 instead.

There is a stop sign at NY 199. Turn right to go east or left to go west.

Bean River Road continues north to the Dutchess-Columbia county line, where it becomes Columbia CR 8A.
