US 1/US 9 enters New Jersey from New York on the George Washington Bridge (I-95). The two routes are multiplexed with I-95 for a few exits and then with US 46 for another few exits.
US 1/US 9 splits off from the mainline of US 46 and follows its service road. There is a traffic light at Roff Avenue.

Broad Avenue runs south as a four-lane undivided road. There are traffic lights at Pleasant View Terrace, Shaler Boulevard (CR 31), Greeley Avenue, and Probst Avenue.
