I-84 is an east/west highway from Dunmore, PA, to Sturbridge, MA. The section in Massachusetts is only a few miles long, extending from the Connecticut border to the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) in Sturbridge. It is called the Wilbur Cross Highway, continuing the name of the section in Connecticut. (Since Wilbur Cross was a governor of Connecticut, it is unlikely that Massachusetts would have named a highway after him of its own accord.) While it runs primarily north and south in Massachusetts, it is designated an east/west route for consistency with the sections in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania.
