I-95 is a main interstate that runs along the east coast from Florida to Maine. The section in Delaware is very short, shorter than any other state's section of I-95. It enters the state from Maryland in Newark. The first section is a toll highway called the Delaware Turnpike with a single toll just past the border. The turnpike is only a few miles long. In Newport, the turnpike ends. The road splits at this point. I-295 begins here and runs a short distance to the Delaware Memorial Bridge, which crosses the Delaware River to New Jersey. I-95 continues north through Wilmington and then into Pennsylvania.
