RI 81 is the easternmost north/south route in Rhode Island, located just west of the border with Massachusetts. It begins at the eastern terminus of Stone Church Road (RI 179) in Little Compton and runs north into Tiverton. At Bulgarmarsh Road (RI 177), it changes names to become Stafford Road. Just south of the border with Massachusetts, it splits off from Stafford Road onto William S. Canning Boulevard and crosses the border to become MA 81. The entire length is a two-lane undivided road.
