RI 402 is a short east/west route extending from South County Trail (RI 2) in East Greenwich to Post Road (US 1) in North Kingstown. It is a four-lane road, part divided and part undivided. It is known as Frenchtown Road for its entire length, although Frenchtown Road extends west of RI 2 as a local street. It has a partial interchange with the Colonel Rodman Highway (RI 4) and crosses the RI 403 expressway with no interchange.
