PA 174 is an east/west route in Cumberland County. The first section is known as Walnut Bottom Road. It begins at East King Street (US 11) in Shippensburg and runs east to an interchange with I-81. It continues to the northeast after the interchange. In Carlisle, PA 174 splits off to the east onto Old York Road, while Walnut Bottom Road continues northeast as PA 465. In Boiling Springs, Old York Road changes names to become First Street. Heading out of town, it becomes Boiling Springs Road. After crossing York Road (PA 74), Boiling Springs Road curves to the north to end at West Trindle Road (PA 641) in Mechanicsburg.
