Westchester Avenue is an east/west route from White Plains to Port Chester. It was originally part of NY 119, but that designation was decommissioned with the construction of the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287), leaving Westchester Avenue with no less than five different numerical designations. The easternmost segment is CR 71, which extends from North Broadway (NY 22) for a few blocks to the east, passing by The Westchester Mall. At South Kensico Avenue, it changes designation to become CR 62 and becomes the service road for the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287). The CR 71 section is a six-lane divided road with traffic lights.
