NY 2 is an east/west route extending from Latham to the border with Massachusetts, serving as an extension of MA 2 into New York. Troy-Schenectady Road is designated NY 7 from Schenectady to its interchange with the Northway (I-87) in Latham, where NY 7 is multiplexed with I-87 for one exit to the north. NY 2 begins at this point and follows Troy-Schenectady Road east to Watervliet, where it changes names to become 19th Street. The Congress Street Bridge carries NY 2 across the Hudson River to Troy. On the other side, it follows a pair of parallel one-way streets. Eastbound traffic follows Ferry Street, while westbound traffic follows Congress Street and River Street. After a few blocks, the eastbound and westbound lanes come back together to form a two-way Congress Street. After a few more blocks, Congress Street ends at the northern terminus of Pawling Avenue (NY 66) and changes names to become Brunswick Road, which continues east heading out of Troy. NY 2 continues east to Massachusetts. In the area near the state line, it is called Taconic Trail. Upon entering Massachusetts, it becomes MA 2, which continues all the way to Boston.
