CR 20 is an east/west route from Pearl River to Orangeburg. It begins at South Main Street in Pearl River, just north of the border with New Jersey. There first section is a two-lane undivided road known as Gilbert Avenue. After just short of a mile, it widens to four lanes. Gilbert Avenue splits off to become CR 26, which CR 20 continues as Veterans Memorial Drive. It curves somewhat toward the south to Lake Tappan, where it is multiplexed with CR 23 for one block. After the two routes split, there is a small bridge over the lake. On the other side of the bridge, CR 20 is known as Orangeburg Road. It continues east past the Palisades Parkway, where it has an interchange, to end at NY 303 in Orangeburg.
