The Jackie Robinson Parkway is a short east/west highway connecting the East New York section of Brooklyn with the major highways in Queens. Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn becomes the parkway upon passing through a five-way intersection with Jamaica Avenue, East New York Avenue, and Bushwick Avenue. The parkway enters Queens almost immediately and passes through cemeteries for much of its length. It is narrow and curvy to a greater degree than any other parkway in New York City. Therefore, it has a speed limit of only 45 MPH. The parkway ends at the Kew Gardens Interchange, where the Grand Central Parkway and the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) cross. There is access to both of these highway from the eastern terminus of the Jackie Robinson Parkway.
The Jackie Robinson Parkway was originally known as the Interboro Parkway, but it was renamed in honor of the first African-American to play Major League Baseball. It was proposed to continue southwest through Brooklyn to end at the Belt Parkway, but this portion was never constructed.
