Sterling Mine Road is a short east/west route extending from Orange Turnpike (NY 17) in Sloatsburg to the border with New Jersey. It is designated CR 72 in both Rockland and Orange counties. The entire length is a two-lane undivided road. It takes its name from the iron mine that operated in the days of the American Revolution in what is now Sterling Forest State Park.
