14 Street is a major east/west street in Manhattan, extending from 11 Avenue (NY 9A) to the FDR Drive. It is known as West 14 Street to the west of 5 Avenue and as East 14 Street to the east. The entire length is a four-lane undivided road with traffic lights. There was originally an interchange with the FDR Drive at the eastern terminus. However, it has been closed. Motorists who wish to access the FDR Drive from East 14 Street must travel north a short distance on Avenue C.
