I-890 is a short loop highway connecting the New York Thruway (I-90) to Schenectady. It extends between exit 25 and exit 26 of the Thruway. I-890 curves to the north to pass through Schenectady, while the Thruway curves to the south to bypass the city and meet I-88 at exit 25A. At its western interchange with the Thruway, I-890 loses its interstate status and becomes NY 890, which extends for a very short distance to end at Amsterdam Road (NY 5).
