I-390 is a north/south route in Western New York. It is also known as the Genesee Expressway for most of its length. It begins at the Southern Tier Expressway (I-86/NY 17) and runs north. Eventually, there is an interchange with the New York Thruway (I-90). Then, I-390 heads into the Rochester area. The highway splits, with I-590 beginning at this point. I-390 runs to the west of the downtown area of Rochester, while I-590 runs to the east. The interstate ends at I-490, but the highway continues as a state route, NY 390, to end at the Lake Ontario Parkway near Lake Ontario.
